You Spoke, We Listened

ELSO has been conducting research. Connecting in person and on video, we interviewed families and educators to hear how we can help prevent a Covid-19 learning loss.

We’ve been in the lab coming up with how we can help families navigate virtual education, access to quality education, and guide our youth to be tomorrow’s leaders.

The youth’s opinion drove the selection of topics and activities - ranking the order of where our efforts were dedicated.

We believe in rooting lessons in stories of resistance, folktales and legends, and identifying elders whose stories need to be elevated enriches education.

Characters That Look Like Us!

Custom artwork by African American designer Yishaii of Project Lepus shows the beauty of Black and Brown youth. Our youth can see themselves reflected throughout the lab materials and supplies.

Stories That Empower Parents, Too

Every lesson is mapped back to Next Generation Science Standards so you know where they’re at. Lessons designed for all members of the family to participate and reflects the experiences of our ancestors.

Topics The Youth Want

The Kit is packed with various experiments along with stories, activities, and ways to share the fun on social media.

DOING BUSINESS THE RIGHT WAY

We responsibly quote and interview all sources before sharing Indigenous folklore and legends. We also prioritized sourcing supplies from organizations that support the work of social justice and equality in our communities. Our supplies and materials are purchased at Black, Brown, Latino/a, and Indigenous owned establishments, and share referrals to other suppliers of the same communities.
